Hotel del Lago is a historical hotel in San Bernardino with picturesque houses and large mansion surroundings. The hotel is located along the shores of Ypacarai Lake offering panoramic views.

In 1888, a traveler from German, Guillermo Weiler, discovered San Bernardino which was only reachable by a boat from Aregua. Weiler predicted that San Bernardino will become one of the best holiday destinations. Thus, he became one of founding fathers of San Barnardino.

Guillermo Weiler constructed two hotels, a harbor, and initiated steamboats according to his vision for San Bernardino. He organized the very first horse race and built a hippodrome under his supervision. In 1910, Weiler's sons included a second floor, a new entrance and two new towers to give the hotel a new and different look.

Hotel del Lago is no longer a part of the Weiler family, but the hotel has restrained the pleasant ambiance of the past with modern amenities. The reception of the hotel is named after Guillermo Weiler which leads towards an elegant restaurant with cabinets and wooden floors. The history of the Hotel del Lago can be read from ancient black and white postcards and photographs.
