Bahia Negra is a small military urban that has a population of around 800 people. The military base is accountable for the security of the Paraguay River. It is a half hour walk from Port Diana.

Bahia Negra is rather diverse from Port Diana, because it has electricity with modern amenities.

However, this town moreover requires a lot of ssistance. Local inhabitants earn fewer than $100 U.S. per month. Their routine is very fashionable and many cannot have enough money for regular clothing, toothbrushes, soap and toothpaste. They also face the some health care problems as the part of Port Diana, because there is only one doctor in the area of 450 kilometers.

There is a neighborhood military hospital, but it has no budget, equipment or staff. In fact, the front hall sank long ago because of a poor base, and has been vacant for several years.
The local path is made of clay and mud. Although it is safe to go in the winter due to low amounts of rain, in the season of summer the mud often barrier the town from the outside world.

HMO’s volunteers did their most excellent job to provide health care to the people of Bahia Negra and its military staff. In return, the commander politely assigned two soldiers to guards visitors while visiting Port Diana. He as well grants the authorization to dock at the base throughout nightfall for added protection.
