Paraguayan Ambassador to USA

Rigoberto Gauto Vielman offered his testimonial as Paraguay’s ambassador to the U.S. on February 24, 2010. In year 1952 he was born in Asunción, Paraguay. From Cristo Rey High School he did his graduation.

Between years 1977 and 1990, he became an expert in Intellectual Property and Foreign Trade as he made appearance at a GATT Trade Policy Course, training in Intellectual Property, a 3 month colloquium on Commercial Promotions in Tokyo and a course on Agricultural Cooperatives in Bologna, Italy. From the National University of Asuncion’s School of Law he has completed his law degree and came to specialize in Intellectually Property and Foreign Trade.

Gauto worked at the Ministry of Trade and Industry from year 1976 to 1989. He held quite a few positions like the Vice Director of the Industrial Property Office and the Vice Director of International Trade Negotiations.

In year 1989, he worked as the General Direction for Cooperatives for the Ministry of Agriculture but after 2 years he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since year 1991, he has taken positions like Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Paraguay to the UN Office, Minister at the Embassy of Paraguay in Montevideo, Uruguay; Specialized Organizations in Geneva and the Counselor at the Permanent Mission of Paraguay in Geneva, Switzerland.
