Gender Equality, also known as gender equity, sexual equality or gender egalitarianism is a goal that gives equal rights to men and women. Paraguay is a relatively small country with almost half of the population occupied by women.
The Paraguayan constitution carries the principle of gender equality for every individual. The government of Paraguay prohibits discrimination and it also has removed many of the discriminatory clauses from the country’s legislation. A legal and institutional framework has been developed because of the Feminist organizations conducted that are used for conveying the women’s rights.
Paraguay’s new Civil Code guarantees same rights and responsibilities to men and women in home as well as in parental authority. Paraguay’s constitution also provides equal legal rights of inheritance and the law strictly prohibits polygamy. The Paraguayan government also grants its citizens with equal civil liberties and there aren’t any restrictions on women’s freedom of movement or freedom of dress.
In Paraguay, men and women are given same legal restrictions as they have equal ownership rights. The Agrarian act promoted women’s Access to land as well aimed to support the women doing farming and heading their families. There are equal rights to both men and women to access property other than land. Women also have access to bank loans as there are no legal restrictions on their access for the same. Instead, women are supposed to be good payers than men. Children must singlehandedly brought up by women as this may lead to hampering their education and reducing struggle.
Women have achieved important positions in private companies as well as in public sector organizations. Not all but many of the gender equality ideas have been adopted in Paraguay. Gender equality has been defined in the human rights especially the women’s rights, by the world bodies!
