Juggling family and office is a challenge, but when men and women equally share in the caring for their children and other responsibilities, it becomes easier. The constant development of country requires participation of both men and women.

Perception about women in society is changing, as more and more women have started working to earn leaving as Paraguay is low income country. Paraguayan women have not traditionally occupied important position in the society; women have been cast in the role of housewives only.For giving better life to their children, many women are seeking jobs.

Many Paraguayan women have started working in service sector such as working as a restaurant staff and hotel housekeeping. Some women have even started their own businesses. Handcrafts are another option for women living in villages to earn money.

Sometimes, women may bring up their children by themselves. It leads to fight for their rights in society, including establishment of their own businesses. It helps them for self development and standing as a role model in their societies. There are many women in important positions both in public and private sector organizations.

In Paraguay, there are many groups of craftswomen who make handmade articles of clothing fine thread of cotton. By selling their traditional crafts, women are earning money for supporting their families.

The Paraguayan women of Maka Tribe earn living by weaving, beside their household responsibilities. By doing this, they are preserving their rich culture through their handmade crafts. The Cooperative of the Weavers of Nanduti and the Teko Joja Kuna Rembiapope were started by the Good Shepherd Sisters in Itaugua, Paraguay; to help poor craftswomen and helping them to get a proper price for handmade articles of themselves. Teko Joja Kuna Rembiapope works with more than 120 families and offers an employment for more than 280 women.

All these efforts are helping women to get good life for themselves and their family members.
