Cristian Riveros - The Next Paraguayan Hero in making?

Cristian Miguel Riveros Núñez, born on October 16th 1982 in Paraguay’s Juan Augusto Saldivar, is a football player of Paraguay. Riveros played for many Paraguayan teams such as Tacuary and San Lorenzo, after starting his career from the club Colón de J.A. Saldivar in his hometown.

After that, he played for Libertad and signed for Cruz Azul, a Mexican club, on 12th July 2007.

Riveros Núñez is a married person and has two daughters. He played his first game at the age of 17 in 1999 in his hometown Saldívar.

Riveros signed a three-year deal on May 11 2010, for English Club Sunderland, which is a big club, having many passionate supporters. He thought that this was one of the world’s best leagues and looked forward to achieve success for himself as well as Sunderland. On 14th August 2010, Riveros made his Premier League debut against Birmingham City. He scored his first goal for Sunderland on the last day of the season against West Ham United, which The Black Cats won 3-0. Cristian joined Kayserispor club from Sunderland for a season long loan on 6 July 2011.

In the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Riveros was deployed to play on the left wing for first two matches where he was a real livewire. He scored his first international goal for Paraguay by defeating Chile 3-2. Cristian also represented Paraguay in 2007’s Copa America. For the FIFA World Cup of 2010, he was named in preliminary 30-man squad of Paraguay and was also named in 23-man penultimate with da Silva, his team-mate of the club. After scoring in a 2-0 win over Slovakia on June 20, 2010, Riveros also scored a penalty in the penalty shoot-out against Japan in the Round of 16, which was eventually won by Paraguay.
